SCILET invites many prominent Indian writers to
visit the Centre and present programmes of readings and discussion of
their work. SCILET members are welcome to attend these programmes, along
with a limited number of teachers and students of literature who are
invited from local colleges.
Often these visiting writers conduct workshops in creative writing for students of American College and of neighbouring institutions. SCILET has co-sponsored at least one such workshop in each of the last fifteen years Additionally SCILET has collaborated with other institutions to hold multiple-day seminars related to Indian literature in English, for more professional participants from a variety of educational institutions in India and overseas. Such seminars have involved co-sponsorship with institutes based in Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Chennai in India, and departments of South Asian Studies of the Universities of Chicago and Wisconsin in the United States. Occasionally scholars from overseas have visited SCILET to give lectures on aspects of their research in Indian literature. These have included citizens of Germany, France, England and the United States, as well as expatriate Indians now living in these countries |
